A Sustainable Cornish Christmas

A Sustainable Cornish Christmas

In the Coffee Lounge we are always striving to be as sustainable as possible and this year we’ve applied that to our Christmas decorations! We started with a theme of, ‘Snowflakes’ and focused on using solely paper decorations in store and as window dressing. With pom-poms, origami snowflakes and snowflake doilies we think it looks fabulous and we’re not missing the tinsel at all!

Paper pom-poms and snowflakes!

We’ve extended our plastic-free approach to our gift packaging. Recyclable gift bags decorated with plastic free adornments are available with any Polgoon wine purchase for a donation to Surfers Against Sewage. Don’t forget, we don’t purchase bubble wrap or other packaging fillers. Instead, we reuse any fillers we receive with deliveries to fill the boxes when mailing our hampers from our eCommerce shop.

Our wine bottles are sustainably gift wrapped!

On the subject of gifts, we have plenty of sustainable lifestyle presents in stock, Chilly’s bottles, JOCO cups, and reusable straws. Ditch the single-use this Christmas and start 2019 plastic free!

Re-usable, sustainable gifts

We make sure we have vegan and vegetarian options available every day. It has been reasserted by the UN that reduction in meat consumption is one of the biggest ways we, as individuals, can reduce our carbon footprint. With our vegan mincemeat scones and Christmas savoury stars you don’t need to miss the meat!

We focus all year round on buying the best of products from our local suppliers and that effort remains during the Christmas season. These include; Bailey’s brownies from The Brownie Baker, Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh chocolate from Chocolarder, Strawberry and Prosecco Patisserie from the Cornish Patisserie, turkey from St Ives Food Company and mulled wine from Polgoon. These are just some of the great local Christmas treats available to eat in or takeaway in The Coffee Lounge this Christmas.
