Coastal Activity Book

This coastal activity book is exclusive to Cornish Gems. Featuring an original poem and illustrations by local artist Emma Fashokun.

Using original pen and ink techniques this book will guide your child through the wonders of the Cornish coastline and how to help look after it. There is a strong plastic free and ocean conscious message running through the book. Children are encouraged to colour, draw and contribute as well as looking out for coastal creatures and shells.

The poem reads:

When bottle caps and cable ties,

Litter our Cornish shore.

The crabs and lobsters scuttle by,

And say, ‘no plastic! no more!’

 

When polystyrene boards break up,

And thousands of beads float by.

The fish, the clams, anemones,

Can only ask us why.

 

When barbecues and picnic litter,

Spoil our golden sands.

The seagulls and the red billed choughs,

Tell us not to harm our land.

 

Plastic, litter, rubbish too,

Brings wildlife to its knees.

And so we ask, and they do too,

Leave only your footprints please.
